I'm 56 & a lifelong resident of Phila/South Jersey. Federal Donuts is amazing, Reading Terminal Market is a national treasure, love how he said "wooder ice". Pat's and Geno's blow, but open 24/7 365 to soak up booze. Ralph's is good, but Marra's & Villa de Roma are much better. No frills, locals know the best. John's Roast Pork on Wccacoe St has the best roast pork & cheesesteaks
Oh for sure try those donuts next time you go back! I wanted to try the chicken sandwich too because I heard that it was supposed to be really good too, but we were too full after the donuts!
You guys should come to the "Burgh lol.I used to live in Philly myself lol.Good videos guys, would like to see you guys travel to every major city in the country lol
Thanks. check out our other videos. We weren't there as long as we were in Philly, but we have a couple on Pittsburgh. Definitely trying to make that happen. We've been to a good chunk of the cities on the east coast. Plan is to go international for a few months then hit some cities on the west coast
Taking all the notes in our new hometown! And chicken + donuts? Whooooooa. Reading Terminal Market is theee top market in America. And you went to Tommy Dinic’s!! A million great 🧀🥩 spots. Next time, try Marra’s for Italian & Puzzeria Vetri - WORLD class. An Iron Chef was 15 feet from us!
Should have talked to you guys more beforehand. Those spots sound amazing. We've struck out almost every time trying to go to the "oldest restaurant" for the history. The food is never great at those places.
Thank you! We don't. We source all our music from sites like musicbed, artlist and epidemic sound. Longest part of of edits is probably finding the right music
reading terminal market is one ive been wanting to go to so bad, and federal donuts ive been hearing so much about. loved this video!! thanks for the new spots, hit you with a sub :)
Hey thank you! Federal Donuts was legit. So many things I wish we could do again. Getting a chicken sandwich is top of the list, but also eating at more of the awesome shops in Reading Terminal Market. You should definitely check it out when you have the opportunity!
Mama's Pizzaria. Best Cheesesteaks. Like, they can't even sell pizzas anymore because no one was ordering them anymore. It's all about the steaks. The rolls are made special for them and no one else. The rolls are like bagels on the outside and a nice soft bread on the inside. They don't get all soggy and fall apart. The place is just outside the city and it's where tons of locals go for the real deal.
yup! makes perfect sense. Thanks for this btw. We tend look for places with a lot of history, and we're learning to move away from that. The historic spots tend to not live up to the hype.
My goodness!!! The food! Again watching just before supper!!! Lol. How do you two not weigh 500lbs?!?!?! 🤣🤣🤣 Also, I know you're still a few away but let me be the first to congratulate you on 1,000 subscribers!!!
Ok this is a great question. Probably from all the walking and hiking we do too. Thank you! We're so close. It's like the old cliche of watching paint dry
Hey guys, I am hungry after watching this 😆 how sweet that you got some extra donuts 🍩😍 I am going to have to google water ice? Ive never had it before! I am also now craving a waffle. Great episode you two.
They were so cool. We've never been the types to go out of our way for free stuff, but definitely not going to turn down such a gesture. And it's a big chain in Philly so it's not like they were looking for exposure or anything (not like we have any to give either). They were generally just really chill. So I, Tony, am from Maryland so we had Rita's all the time. I thought it was common. It's basically Italian shaved ice
@@TheDetourDuo awww that makes it even better that they gave you the free donuts, and hey don't downplay your potential exposure, you two create excellent videos - ya never know which one might blow up ;) Maybe the water ice is more common then we think, we are both from the MIdwest and have little experience visiting the Northeast :)
Omg I (Gladys) loves sweets 🍭 not Kenny, he loves fruits. Roast pork looks delicious. Water ice looks Yumi. I can have a few lol. All the restaurants the food looks delicious. Enjoyed this video.
In philly now, ginna give federal doughnuts a try this AM, and the cheesesteak place you guys went to for lunch.... obviously no need to try Ralph's..... Mehh lol 😆
If you try the chicken sandwich let us know how it was. It looked really good, but we were completely full from the extra donuts. Really can't go wrong in Philly for cheese steak. It's mostly just personal preference and bias. I can't say that I've ever had one I didn't like in the city yet.
Sadly didn't try the chicken sandwich. Got a cheese steak is reading terminal from santaros, it was delicious. Also hot burgers from spot burger... absolutely delicious, all the food was great. You guys definitely got a subscribe out of me. Keep the great tour guide videos coming!!
We feel the same! RUclips is oversaturated with people who won't keep it real. We always want to keep things positive, but won't shy away from telling people if something isn't good.
@@TheDetourDuo It was never on my radar. I didn't even know about them until a few years ago when my gf ordered one. I think it's more a South Philly or Italian thing. We're a lil different along Frankford Ave

Ah man, John's was on our list but the timing didn't work out. Knew we should have gone there
i was just in philly a few months ago, and this video is making me want to go back. i need to try them donuts man, wow.
great video guys

1:01 what flavor was on the far right?
Strawberry! 🍓
South Philly Barbacoa!!!....only open on sat and Sundays and always packed!!!...best breakfast tacos...cash only....
And wee love tacos! It was on our list but we didn't have enough time to really see south Philly like we wanted to. Next time!

That’s it wooderice
That wooderice hits on a hot day!
I'm bingeing on your vlogs. Love the food vlogs. I appreciate your honest reviews. Federal Donuts is so good. Roast pork sandwiches > cheesesteaks
Thank you! Federal donuts is hands down my favorite place just because they were so friendly to us

strawberry donuts are the BEST. we gotta check out some of these places next time we head into the city!
Absolutely! We wanted to check out a bunch of places you recommended but we didn't have enough time to make it to North Philly
@@TheDetourDuo next time we'll meet up and show you guys around!
100% down for that!
We love flea market, so much things to eat! That donut absolutely look delicious to us.
Great video guys … thank you for sharing
Thank you 🤗
Heads up if you visit again, best italian /pasta is actually at an Irish Pub called Murphs bar in Fishtown. 😋 which in Philly, makes perfect sense.

Federal Donut looks LEGIT!!
So good! Really friendly too. (At least this location was.)
Donuts looked bomb so did the sandwich. Taste even better when it’s free🤣🤣 Nice vlog!! Philly cheese steaks yessir 💪🏾
Yep. Can't beat free! Lmao

Dope video!! We are definitely feeling the vibes! We haven't been to Philly yet so will have to check out some of these spots for sure!

Other than Pats and Genos (Tourist Traps) I agree with everything else
For sure, and we totally mentioned they are tourist traps but something to check out if you've never been. Definitely a number of better shops around

We both love sweets too! Not really huge donut people, but man we're those donuts at Federal Donut good!
I also say “wader” no there’s no “T”
Exactly! Lol
I want it all!!! 😍😋😂
lol. Thankful we both do enough walking and hiking, and just enough at the gym. Otherwise we'd be in trouble because we love food!

Angelo's pizza has the best cheesteaks and pizza in philly by a long shot
👍
That sandwiches is a sin 😊
Which one? The cheesesteak or the roast pork?
